Don’t let the enemy pin you to the bad past

You see, there will always be those people, people who want to judge you from your past. Yes, you have struggled enough to be where you are now, but enemies will always point to your past. They will remind you how unworthy your family is; they tell you that your brothers and sisters are doing badly; they will enjoy showing you the faults of your father or uncle; some of them, oh no, I mean many of them will love pointing out how your pastor slept with a young gal or a goat. Yes, your enemy will always to pull you down by pinning you onto your bad past.

But then I ask again, so what? What do you gain when you keep reminding the president that he stole the votes? What do we benefit when we keep recycling the past and using it to kill the present? The past is gone and gone forever. Yes, maybe you could be a good Christian with the theology that what we sow, we shall reap.  But I ask again; what if that person we are pinning already made up with God?
Yes, I am serious. Someone is already in a gown and you are talking of how she cheated on her husband. Someone is already graduating and we are still angry at how he cheated during the paper. Someone is already healed and you are reminding him or her how smelly his wound was. And someone is already a president and you are reminding him how he was unwanted.
Oh, no, no, no, you see, sometimes, we are out of time and the best we can do is to let go. The habit of tying people to the past they repented long time ago is not helpful at all.
Yes, it could be helpful in case such people never changed and we are helping them Reform, but this post is intended for self help. Bad times are gone, good times are present, enjoy them.”She would make a good woman only that her mother was a witch,” we say. “He is a nice young man only that his family is so poor”, we comment.  Yes, “He is doing well only that he cheated on her in 1980”. Imagine such a life that we live! Why pin someone or even ourselves to the failures and sins of the past when all we currently have around is good things?
I think it more beneficial if we focused on the present than the past other stories that do not necessarily mean the behavior or nature of the individual in question. For example, a lady can be faithful when she is from a non faithful family. A man can be a man of his word and integrity yet his father was the chief of liars. Yes, there is always a bright star out of a family, a nation, a community; we could try to look out for that good and let it shine. See, we talk about bad and evil always and it has remained among us, don’t you think it is time we changed our approach or weapons?  Let us be positive and look out for positive and see if it increases.
And, eeh, I am not preaching to you, but to myself.  I am a student too of these lessons.  Yes, there is enough good in each one of us, the best thing we can do is helping each other bring that good out. Yes, stop judging us from our backgrounds and past failures, judge our NOW.
God bless you
If you have not yet received Christ Jesus as your personal Savior to help you in this crazy life and build you up for even the next eternal life, today is your day dear brother and sister. Repeat this prayer after me, “Lord Jesus, I am so much happy to meet you today. I have suffered and struggled to live for myself alone, but I am tired and I have sinned a lot along this way. I kindly ask you to take me in today and make me your holy child. Yes, I want to be there for your service Lord from today onwards. Save me and make me find true living in you alone. Thanks Jesus. Amen”. If you have finished praying, we believe you are now saved and Jesus will never abandon you. Find a good church near you and be part of their congregation.
