Failure to please everyone is okay, but not the failure to please even one: Some people in our lives deserve to be pleased

Yes,  just like any other inspirational or motivational writer,  I am a preacher of the slogan,  you will never be happy if you pursue pleasing everyone,  but I am back today to remind you that sometimes we need to please others. Yes, many people can never please no matter how hard we try, and it takes wisdom to know such people and when to give up on them, but some people in our lives really deserve our pleasing.

In the book, it’s all about me; Max Lucado reminds us that it is when we shift the focus to pleasing God and others that we actually please ourselves. Well, the essence is to please God, but we cannot claim to please God if we cannot please people. Which people? The ones that really represent God. In this case, we cannot please anyone.  Yeah, there are people who are like thorns to our happiness: People whose whole life intentions are to make our lives miserable, people who will never appreciate any hand that shakes theirs, people like the unmarried woman who talked ill of the happy bride. Such people can never please, walk away from them and let them think and say what they want.  But listen;
There are people, examples in our societies, old people and friends that are interested in our progress. Those people will be pleased by even a single stride towards success. Isolate them, know them by your heart and involve them in your life.  And even before deciding on some things, some things that have little to do with your living or dying, think about them and ask, oh what will they think?  What will it be like to them when I do what I am planning to do?  What shall my mother, my father or my wife think of me if I go to that bar? What will the church think if I say this in the church?  Yeah, will they be pleased?  And if the resounding answer is a big NO, just ignore the move and move on or replace it with something else that is more pleasing.  Yes, sometimes our unhappiness is because we have focused so much on pleasing ourselves and ended up losing the pleasure.
Finally, I would love us to recognize that there are matters that really matter and only matter to you and you only, not even your child or wife or parent: matters of life or death.  In such decisions, only think of yourself first.  Do not even think of God first in such matters of life, think of yourself. The fact is if you love yourself so much and want to gain all the pleasure and happiness, you will automatically please God. The first commandment does not ask us to love God, but ourselves. This is because when we truly love ourselves, we love God. For loving God is not doing a service to him,   but to us.  We are saving ourselves when we love God and it is actually right to say he hates himself so much he who hates God. Oh yes, you have got it.  Endeavour to please others in such matters that do not mean life to you; matters in which your loss may not cost your life. And when it about matters of life or death, please only yourself.
Summary: We cannot please everyone but we can please some people that mean a lot to us.  And this also should only be done in matters that have little, if not nothing, with our living or dying.  For example, if a preacher calls for people to surrender to Christ, do not start thinking of what people or your mother will think. This is a personal decision and your mistake in it will only cost your life and no one else. But if your pastor asks who can represent the Choir for the next song, you may decide to be part to please your girlfriend or do not get involved so your mother gets okay.  After all, you can do the other way some other day. Hope the lesson is clear. Good day.
