The destroyer of the business: The toughness or roughness in you, the manager or leader.

Listen, if you want to have honest workers or followers, and then better be one. And if you read my article yesterday about forgiveness, then you already know that your workers deserve forgiveness just as you do. Your workers will report to you every move within their operating areas once they trust that you are an honest man and merciful when needed. Actually, there are some of you, managers who are rude as a means to protect your corporate or tools, but I think that is a wrong way to do that. When people get annoyed with you or do not like you at all, they can always find a way of pulling down your company despite your roughness.

But have you realized that we are in a period where there is no bid difference between your workers and you, the business owner. Inasmuch as you need respect and recognition, workers need respect and recognition too. The idea of looking at your staff as a low class of people who need you for their survival is an old way of managing business. The day your staff will perceive you as someone who undermines them, then your business will likely collapse. Workers have to feel some kind of ownership in your company and so they can work with strength and love even in your absence.
My point today is about managers who are tough and ready to pay back at every wrong turn of the staff. What will happen is that staff will not tell you the truth of all the moves since they are sure of your punishments, deduction of salaries or even firing them. So what would a worker do if something goes wrong? He will do all the impossible to cover it up or bring it up in non-responsible manner. Is that what you want? Then, why are you taking yourself as a king, backing at every maid you pass by or abusing every worker who messes up a minute?
I am a nurse and I am not pleased with how these old nursing officers treat these new nurses and midwives. Eeeeh, what is wrong with these women? Are they shifting some kind of frustrations to our young nurses and midwives? How come they take them as slaves? How dare you abuse or buck at a fellow nurse in public as if you employed her? By the way, even when the clinic belongs to you, learn to respect your fellow nurses. I am disappointed in you. Now, if you are such a fierce sister, how do you expect fresh graduates to report to you their developments when they expect abuses or slaps in case of mistakes or errors? And if they fear you, are you pleased? I am sure you are saying No, but are you not the ones making noises while abusing and blaming the juniors at work? Stop it.
Whatever business you are doing, staffs need to see you as a human being who understands their success and failure and who is ready to help them with a loving heart. Stop those hallucinations that people are playing in your money, it is their money too if you make them feel so and thus they will protect it even in your absence. Have a heart. Listen; do you expect a staff to admit that she broke the flask when she expects no mercy or some kind of understanding from you?
I am not saying that you be as weak as water or be too nice, I am simply saying that be patient and reasonable and stop your emotions from hurting your staffs. Respect your staffs and they will respect you. Love them, help them grow and improve, and they will like your whole company or business and they will fight for its glory even without your presence. That is what is lacking in the health sector: People look at cadres and levels of office, instead of the practical work on ground. Instead of working as a team full of love, nurses (I mean nursing leaders and officers are like Army and police to their fellow nurses). And I am sure it is happening in other business sectors too, stop it.
