SWAPafrica is Uganda and Africa’s number one library of things (LOTs). Basically, just as people borrow books from book libraries, SWAPafrica users can borrow various items and equipment, use them, and return them for others to also borrow and use.
This saves nature in two ways:
1. Because similar items and equipment can be shared and used by hundreds of people instead of each one of them buying and owning his, overexploitation or depletion of resources is reduced.
2. As items and equipment are shared across many people, it means less waste is accumulated.
Lastly, SWAPafrica is strengthening communities, peace, and sense of togetherness through this form of sharing.
Apparently, skills and services, especially concerning the specific equipment and tools in the library are also hired. For example, if one borrows an electric motorcycle but cannot manage to ride it, he or she gets a rider. Alternatively, one can decide to run how to ride a motorbike first.
