Opinion: NRM Looks and Sounds like a Party for LOSERS!

NRM sounds like a party for losers! When I see someone screaming ‘Museveni Oyee’ or in NRM T. Shirt, there is how I quickly pass on the judgment, ‘another lost sheep’. Of course, this is not to say that NRM is surely that shit (other parties may not have a better thing too). However, somehow, it feels awkward and kind of weird to sing NRM and shout out the old man’s name to people who have been hearing about it and him for the past 30 and more years!

Today, NRM was somewhere in Mulago, and I could sense how the speaker or MC couldn’t find words to describe NRM’s work. On health, he stammered, we have tested HIV, women’s cancer, and men’s prostate. On ‘Emyala’, nga we have done them, he murmured. On wastes, we are still collecting, he shouted to the evidently distressed audience. With enough drinks and T. Shirts, the guy seemed to be begging people to at least pick up the T. Shirts. And whenever he screamed ‘Museveni Oyeee’, you would exactly feel the doubt, embarrassment, weakness, and kind of treachery in his voice. And as the distressed audience responded, you would confirm the suffering!

Seriously, what NRM message can you give to the people of Mulago, the slum? Healthcare? Security? Economic development? Roads? Or what? Do you guys know Mulago, the slum? What message can you take there after ruling them for 35 years?

For Bobi Wine and Mugisha Muntu, Katumba and Amuriat, it is okay and easy to tell them promises, to lie that, had they been the ones, things would have been different! But, for NRM and Mzee #Museveni, what new thing can they promise they will do in the next 5 years that they didn’t do or start on doing in the last 35 years?

By the way, it is okay to support NRM and Museveni. It is even okay to vote for him. Each one of us has the right to vote whoever he wants. Besides, there are reasons why one might support #Museveni ‘mpaka last’. Many have jobs, opportunities, relationships, and all sorts of gains they want to guard by keeping NRM in power. And it isn’t totally stupid to support Museveni. But when it comes to singing him to the crowd, the passing common man, it becomes a whole new thing. You basically look and sound insane and a real LOSER! So, how about keeping it to your DEAD SELF?
