Convenience
Learning, especially of young people isn’t amazing until it is made convenient to meet learners’ needs. At Miklah Academy, a learner has 3 study options: 1. Can take studies online, and learn at own pace; 2. Have physical training at our office, Mag House Kalerwe; 3. Have training at your own premises (home or workplace).
Short Study Duration
Long-duration courses are a wastage of precious time, and unnecessary. All our short courses take a duration of 9 hours and a 1-month follow-up. The 9 hours can as well be divided into few hours, usually 3 hours a day until they’re over. Whatever course, 9 quality hours are enough; 1-month follow-up fills any gaps.
Affordable & Accessible
Every short course costs just UGX 55K (15 USD) for sustainability of the program. A group of 2-5 pays only 100k for a course of their choice. This makes our courses affordable. Our goal is to make it possible for graduates, entrepreneurs, and young corporates to enrich their CVs or skills for quality employment or business success.

A Certificate tells the public, and affirms to you that you have indeed successfully acquired skills A, B,C, etc. At the end of whatever course, we organize for certification assessment & then deliver you a digital certificate of achievement, with our logo, stamp, & signature. Assessment and certification means we produce real graduates!
What is the Problem?
Many Graduates – Few Jobs!
Every year, Uganda pushes out 700,000 graduates. Makerere University alone pushes out more than 12,000 graduates each year (see 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). However, only 12% get formal employment. The rest struggle to survive with self-employment & menial jobs.
Available data shows that unemployment can reach up to 88% in some sectors and 50.9 per cent of young people aged 18-30 years are classified as NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training).
Across Africa, the crisis is even more acute: 10 to 12 million youth enter the workforce annually, but only 3 million formal jobs are created to absorb them.
Shortage of employable skills
Most employers accuse universities of producing youth with no employable skills. Available data shows that more than 60% are unemployed for lack of employable skills. A published 2025 study shows that of the 90% graduates, only 10% are fully skill-prepared for work. The rest have a lot of theory with no practical application skills in the real world!
Failing at self Employment
Most unemployed youth resort to self-employment and menial jobs, right? Sadly, most small businesses never make it as Uganda’s startup failure climbs to even 54% by the 3rd year. For menial jobs, well, they are indeed menial, demanding, unhealthy, and mostly will not lead anywhere; just a trap.
Skills as a recommendable remedy!
