How can you create SDGs awareness? Explore the few things to do!

Contributing to SDGs awareness shouldn’t be a hard thing. In this short article, we share the few things to take care of. let’s get started!

Sustainable Development Goals, unlike MDGs, were developed following serious global consultations and they are believed to be global, relevant to every individual and society. According to the Guardian (2015), United Nations put aside an open platform that allowed extensive discussions regarding what the world would go with after the era of MDGs. This open platform was called Rio+20. Apparently, Rio+20 wasn’t the first conference on sustainable development; sustainable development had been discussed in conferences of 1992 in Rio and 2002 in Johannesburg.

Anyway, besides this 2012 conference on sustainability, affirms The Guardian, UN also conducted series of global conversations. Let us borrow this witnessing from The Guardian:

‘Alongside the open working group discussions, the UN conducted a series of “global conversations”. These included 11 thematic and 83 national consultations, and door-to-door surveys. The UN also launched an online My World survey asking people to prioritise the areas they’d like to see addressed in the goals. The results of the consultations were fed into the the working group’s discussions’ (The Guardian, 2015). And yet these discussions, when presented by Rio+20, had to be debated by UN member States before the final wording in August 2015!

The above is an indication that SDGs were developed with enough engagement of almost all governments and individuals and they likely represent each individuals and government’s aspirations.
