WordCamp Mukono 2026: Vicent (Nemvicx) of Miklah attended & Here is the Experience!
WordCamp Mukono 2026 was just a drop in the ocean of WordCamps that happen in Uganda every single year. But what are WordCamps?
WordCamps are the heartbeat of the WordPress community, offering a space where volunteers, sponsors, and enthusiasts come together to share knowledge freely. For me, the connection is deeply personal. MIKLAH Life is built entirely on WordPress, and I can say without exaggeration that WordPress changed my life. Read my WordPress and Total Startupper Award story here.

In brief, WordPress provided the tools and the ecosystem necessary to turn an idea into a tangible, working, and presentable MVP. In 2019, I used WordPress to develop an idea into a fundable project. And I won. Since then, I have never looked back! Read tstory here.

Anyway, back to WordCamp Mukono 2026, my journey to its podium began months ago when I first saw the call for speakers. I knew I wanted to share something that bridged the gap between abstract innovation and practical business growth, a thing we always do here at Miklah Life.

Anyway, I have always participated in WordCamps and shared knowledge. I think #WordCamp Mukono was my eighth WordCamp. I have attended #WordCamp Jinja twice, #WordCamp Masaka twice, #WordCamp Kampala once, #WordCamp Lira once, and of course #WordCamp Mukono twice.
Back to WordCamp Mukono 2026, I applied with a topic close to my heart and my work at MIKLAH Life: “Generating a WordPress-powered Innovative Business from scratch using Design Thinking”. And I was accepted.
WordCamp Mukono 2026: The event day!
The two-event started on the 13th of March 2026 at MURS country resort, Kugunga, Mukono. I was among the first to be there. From the moment I arrived at the venue, the atmosphere was electric. I spent much of my time attending various presentations, immersing myself in the diverse tracks and learning from the collective wisdom of the “Warriors” in the WordPress ecosystem.

The first presenter talked about User Interface and User Experience in digital world. He insisted that there are a number of few things to do or not do to optimise our users’ experiences on our websites and other digital platforms. This session inspired me a lot. I learnt to intentionally be careful with colors, fonts, and directions of navigation when designing sites. We learn a ‘thousand’ of making life easier for everyone that visits our websites. We plan and hope to incorporate these insights into our webdesigning services for our clients. See here:

The second presenter introduced participants to story telling and its relevance in our personal lives, business brands, and the WordPress community itself. She insisted that it surely is not wise to go through life without documenting our stories. She encouraged participants to always document the events in which they participate and every other aspect of life. It is on this same note that I introduced participants to our biography and autobiography focused plaform, Ugapedia – stories from silent heroes. Yes, publish about yourself or the person you like at 100% free! Visit ugapedia.org.
Back to this presenter, here is what I had to say on my X profile:

Presenter number 3 took it further and opened us to content creation with WordPress. I surely do not know about you, but I think #WordPress is massive! WordPress accounts for more than 40% of the internet, and it is used for content creation by all people and companies of all walks of life, including the White House. Anyway, so this guy, Odimba introduced us to blogging with WordPress and how best to do it. It was inspiring, especially for newcomers who were contemplating starting out their first website or blog with WordPress.

Personally, I began blogging in 2014, and I have written hundreds of articles since then, tens of ebooks (some on Amazon here), and have designed countless websites and platforms using WordPress. So, yeah, give it a try. Start a blog of your own in this 2026. Need guidance in designing your first code-free website? Check on our offers!
Presenter number four introduced participants to WordPress Education Initiatives, and how any interested person can get started with such an initiative. According to the presenter, WordPress is a game-changer for most of us, and yet there are still millions, especially young people who are stuck in non-productive technologies that lead nowhere. Introducing your community or fellow youth to #WordPress could be the most noble thing in this life. So, why not organize for and lead a WordPress Education Initiative at your school, in your community, or wherever?

There are many more presenters and amazing topics, and the best you can do is explore the full schedule or topic list and their slides on the official WordCamp Mukono 2026 website here.
WordCamp Mukono 2026: Generating a Business from Scratch using Design Thinking – Vicent Nemeyimana Presentation
When everything was done and said, it was my turn.

My session was designed to be a hands-on experience rather than a standard lecture. I promised my audience three things: a solid theoretical grasp of design thinking, a practical application of the methodology to business generation, and, most importantly, a fully-sketched, ready-to-launch business idea for every participant.

As I walked the audience through the stages of empathy, definition, ideation (and prioritization), prototyping, and testing, I could see the lightbulbs going off. We explored how to borrow from real-world experiences to create WordPress-powered businesses that aren’t just websites, but solutions to real problems. The session sparked a great deal of interest and led to deep conversations long after I stepped off the stage. Participants were eager to discuss how they could pivot their existing sites or launch new ventures using these structured innovation techniques.

WordCamps like the one in Mukono are essential because they democratize technology. They take complex concepts—like building a business from scratch—and make them accessible to anyone with the drive to learn. Whether you are a seasoned developer or a newcomer, there is always something to gain.
In conclusion, WordCamp Mukono 2026 was a resounding success. It was an honor to contribute my experience with Design Thinking to a community that has given me so much. As I look back on the presentations I attended and the session I delivered, I am more convinced than ever that when we combine the right methodology with the power of WordPress, the potential for innovation is limitless. I am already looking forward to the next one, ready to learn, share, and continue growing alongside this incredible community.
