Lehigh University

Lehigh University, a Hidden University of Greatness, Elegancy, and Amazing Culture!

Founded in 1865, #LehighUniversity is one of the best universities in the US, with a known record in engineering and business colleges and others. Sitting on more than 2,350 acres of land and with student enrolment of about 7,000 and full-time staff of about 950, that are 95% PhD and above holders, this university is just massive! The university’s beauty is laid on the hills of the town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvanian. It also has a 16,000 seater stadium, #GoodmanStadium. Hold on, what’s this?

Okay, for those in #Uganda, here is how we can relate. Do you know #MakerereUniversity campus, the whole of it? Well, Makerere campus is seated on 300 acres of land, implying that #LehighUniversity is equal to #8 ‘Makereres’. This university is huge, elegant, and with supercool buildings that retain artistic beauty and design.

Lehigh University: Not so famous, Why?

Apparently, while the University is great, it isn’t as famous as some universities that we know! This could be because of its location, which is hidden in the small and growing town of Bethlehem. Compared to universities in famous cities like New York for New York University, Washington DC for Georgetown University, and others, then this could be a factor.

The second reason for Lehigh University’s ‘low profile’ has something to do with its age. Apparently, 1865 isn’t that ‘ancient’. Universities like New York University and University of Pennsyslvanian were established as early as 1832 and 1740 respectively. In other words, for Lehigh University, it is just a matter of time!

The third reason might have something to do with size, not in land alone but also students enrolment. Well, we already stated that the university is massive in size, didn’t we? Well, compared to other famous universities in the USA, Lehigh may not be that huge! Take an example of University of Michigan, which sits on more than 20,000 acres of land. Talk about Duke University, which sits on more than 8,500 acres of land.

Additionally, enrolement of 6,000 to 7,000 may not be that huge as we thought!

However, important to note is that universities like Yale University are actually on small land. Universities like Stanford University (established in 1891) are even newer. It simply means that there are a lot of other factors at play.

However, when everything is said and done, what is clear is that Lehigh University is a high-ranking university with excellence and awards in all they do, and it can only get better. In my view, the strong factor is its location, for Bethlehem may indeed not be a famous town. As the city grows and gets famous, the University’s name will also grow! #LehighUniversity is on the move.
