Miklah COP28 Side Event: What shall we talk about?

Approaching climate change without business, innovation, and entrepreneurship mind is dangerous, not only to socioeconomic steps the world has already achieved but also to the climate action we urgently need to take. Governments, individuals, companies, and everyone else can never make meaningful commitments to climate action without clear incentives. Actions that don’t make any socioeconomic sense to people don’t align with sustainability and will do us more harm than good.

When we present the climate crisis as an opportunity for innovation and entrepreneurship, we make it easy and relevant for businesses and politicians to act fast, for entrepreneurship approaches serve self-interests as well. And self-interest can be pure, pro-people and environment! How? We have it all; we will show you!

Additionally, most youth are struggling with their climate and environment initiatives because those initiatives don’t align with principles of sustainability, including economic viability. We want to address that and ensure the sustainability of your initiatives. How? We got it all; we will show you!

Importantly, we don’t need to struggle about this since economic prosperity and environmental sustainability aren’t at odds but complement each other for a sustainable life. Alongside hundreds of companies and scholars taking on this holistic approach to climate action, Miklah Life wants to introduce you to innovations and entrepreneurship for climate change and the opportunities embedded within this climate change crisis.

Miklah COP28 Side Event Concept Note:

The world is facing several pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. These challenges pose a serious threat to the planet and its inhabitants, and they require urgent action.

While there is a growing consensus on the importance of sustainable practices, the question of how to achieve environmental goals without hindering economic growth remains a significant concern

In the past, environmentalism has often been seen as being at odds with economic growth. However, there is growing recognition that the two are not mutually exclusive. There is a growing body of evidence that suggests that sustainability can lead to economic growth.

This concept note outlines Miklah’s workshop designed to empower environmentalists, climate activists and negotiators, sustainability entrepreneurs, and youth, policymakers, and Governments with the knowledge and skills to navigate this delicate balance.
