Opinion: Demanding for Blood of Bobi Wine’s Children before you can believe him is cruel!

Yesterday, media was full of stories of Bobi Wine securing his children by flying them out of Uganda pending the ‘BLOODY’ 2021 UG elections happening on 14th January 2021. Critics, including the ruling government of NRM implied that Bobi Wine was exercising hypocrisy by securing his family and at the same time encouraging other people to stay put and fight for change. However, in my view, this is cruel and is grossly taken out of context. Here is what I think:

I don’t understand why people are mad at Bobi Wine or any other presidential candidate for securing his family! Do you guys want his children’s blood before you can believe him? This is very cruel. Bobi Wine has given in a lot. He has traversed the whole country under teargas, bullets, beatings, threats, sun, and every shit you can think of. He was imprisoned, tortured, and his family has been threatened, been in media for various rumors and their father has been talked about in all evil ways possible. Seriously, what if you were the one? Do you need to sacrifice your children to make a point?

What is wrong with him securing his young children so he can fight better with less vulnerability? Has he stopped you from sending away yours for safety?

Perhaps, we could talk if he had hidden somewhere in South Africa or USA and asked us to fight and then fly in only to be inaugurated. But the gentleman is fully here, participating in all things with you, with us all. Surely, there are few brave young men like Bobi Wine. What more do you want from him?

Instead, NRM and Mr. Museveni should be blamed for making us reach here. Directly, they are the reason an opposition candidate would have to fly out his family to ensure safety. So, instead of politicizing the incident, NRM should be hiding under shame!

Demanding for the blood of his children before you can believe in him is very barbaric, cruel, unempathetic, inhumane, and very foolish. I have already associated any person who expressed this demand with foolishness and high level animosity. Even when I can’t vote for a presidential candidate, I need to remain human. And Bobi Wine deserves our humanity as well. So, vote for him or don’t; just let his family, especially his children be! Bye. #UgVotes2021
