Below is the outline of the course content:

CONTENT OUTLINE:

  1. What is first aid? Why is it important
  2. Priorities of first aid
  3. What makes you a great first aider
  4. Assessment of situations and casualty
  5. Safety and protection (self, casualty, bystanders)
  6. First aid kit (contents and uses)
  7. Review of body systems
  8. Top 10 common emergencies and their first aid management (Choking, burns and scalds, wounds and bleeding, accidents (road and work place injuries), fractures (dislocations, sprains, strains)
  9. Asthmatic attack
  10. Heart attack/cardian arrest

Additionals: Epileptic attack (seisures), poisoning, allergy, snake and insect bites, lightning, electric shock, drowning, foreign bodies, the unconscious casualty, hanging and trangulation, stroke)

NB: Of all these, the learner chooses the top 10 of his or her interest based on needs assessment done and in according to the learner’s setting or workplace.
