International Albinism Awareness Day

International Albinism Awareness Day 2022: How it all happened, Jinja City, Kampala (Uganda).

As you already know, 13th June 2022 was International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD), a day set aside on by United nations in 2014 to commemorate and celebrate people with albinism across the world as we advocate for their rights and full social integration. Apparently, fights for this day started with us here in Africa, Tanzania, in early 2000s. Well, thanks to all leaders, organizations, and advocates that made it possible to be recognized on international scene.

Every year, a theme is globally chosen. This year’s theme for IAAD was ‘United in making our voice heard‘. In Uganda, celebrations happened in many places, from Lira in the North to probably anywhere else in Uganda. I (MiklahlLife) and my family had it all in Jinja, the city where SNUPA, the organization focusing on PWA, is head-quartered. In this short article, I will tell you all about it! Let me get a cup of coffee, and get back. Thank you.

Planning for International Albinism Awareness Day; the journey too!
