Here we go with the 11 most promising business funding opportunities for entrepreneurs here in Uganda, and Africa. All opportunities come with funding that is completely free!
1. Are you in media or know anyone in media who has some form of a journalism startup, targeting especially communities? Here is Google’s New Equity Fund, up to 300k USD. Read details and apply here. Deadline: 21st July 2022.
2. US Mission Uganda is supporting projects addressing youth empowerment through CIVIC trainings. The funding is about 50k USD. See details and apply here. Deadline is 15th July 2022
3. Do you have a sustainable solution in health, entrepreneurship, energy, education or anything? Well, how about Zayed Sustainability Prize? Share 3m dollars with others. Read more and apply here. Deadline is 6th July 2022.
4. Do you have an innovative idea or startup in Agriculture? Pitch your idea and win millions with Heifer International and partners. See here. Deadline is 16th August 2022.
5. Do you have an idea to solve world’s food hunger? Tell us, is there a way technology could push your idea forward? Well, apply for World Food Forum (WFF) challenge and win funding. See here for details. Deadline is 15th July 2022.
6. Do you have an idea or training program that could foster youth into transitioning to green economy and innovations? Apply and get supported with a minimum of 20k USD to a maximum of 50k USD. See details here, and apply here. Deadline: 12th August 2022.
7. You know about Mandela Washington Fellowship, a flagship program of YALI, right? Man, I actually missed being part of it narrowly at the stage of face-to-face interviews. Anyway, those selected for 2022 are already in USA. But the program is coming up for 2023 fellows. Applications are usually in SEPTEMBER. Now, if you won’t apply to be a fellow, you can decide to instead read their applications. Apply to be a reader of MWF applications. How much do they pay? I am not sure. See details and apply here. 8. Are you an environmental leader interested in developing deeper knowledge and initiatives in environment programs? Apply for environment leaders program at Yale. Travel to Yale and France. See details here and apply here. Deadline is 15/08/2022.
9. Are you a blogger or writer or story teller or artist whose work is basically about entrepreneurship, startups, and entrepreneurs in Africa? Apply for this small grant, 500 to 2,000USD from Tony Elumelu Foundation. See details here. Deadline: July 29th 2022.

11. Do you have innovation based on deep technology and is serving common issues like education, health, rights or anything? Apply for Hello Tomorrow and win as much as you want! Lol
